I start work at Target on the 30th. Which is perfect because I have some commitments to take care of before taking on this second job.

Yesterday, my parents, Doug, and I celebrated my dad's birthday. I baked him his favorite: strawberry rhubarb pie. And it was almost from scratch (but not the crusts, still scared to try that). It turned out pretty good, but I think I used too much lemon zest. I also picked up this trick online so that the crust doesn't get burnt;  I used an aluminum foil cover. It turned out great!

Today I had work for a couple of hours and was really craving a sandwich when I got off work. So I came home and made a good turkey, lettuce, and cheese sandwich. Yum!

My flowers are still growing (sigh of relief). I need to buy some more planters and soil so I can get my sunflowers started. I also want to get patio lights and a trash can for our cans and bottles. Just spruce it up in general so that it can be a desirable place to hang out. I'm out there occasionally when I do my Bible study or when I'm reading, but not as much as I'd like to be. The other night Luna wanted to be on the porch and since I didn't trust her alone with my flowers, I grabbed a blanket and joined her in my rocking chair with a book. The full moon was rising over the Canejo Grade and it was just so beautiful. I want more nights like that, so I'm excited to fix up our balcony for the summer.

Luna and I rested today. I haven't been feeling that well the past couple of days. Some sort of bug has been going around. She gets so cute when she's napping. When we were in my bed later, I woke up and she was sleeping on her back. She's so silly.

She also loves boxes. Whenever we get a package, or soda, or even my paper bags from American Eagle, it isn't long till she's sitting or laying in it. We always make this joke when she does it: (popular picture on humor sites)

Last game night we were playing Scattergories and she crawled into the box that was on the lower part of our coffee table, content in the middle of the group. Today, I got a package from Amazon with Almond Bark so I can make a treat from Pinterest. Surprisingly they didn't have it at Ralphs, so I just ordered it. I pulled out the candy makings and scooted the box towards Luna. She's been having a blast all night. I was finally able to get an okay picture of her. She tends to allude us in some of her acts. I still have not been able to record "the meerkat". Someday...someday...

Daylight Savings is wrecking us a bit, so my internal clock is waaaay off. I should try to sleep a bit though.

The other night I was in the kitchen making some chocolate mint truffles and Luna crawled into the cupboard. I thought it was hilarious and she reminds me so much of a little kid trying to find crawl spaces, so I took a picture. Then I washed the stuff she'd walked on, cause ew.

When I had saved a lot of recipes to try, I showed them to Doug. He graciously let me show him each one that I was excited about, and then I asked him what he wanted me to make first. He said the Mint Chocolate Truffles. (I ended up making the BTS cake first, but that had to do with timing). So I made these for him. He loved them, and they are quite good. On the recipe page it was rated as easy, and although it isn't as hard as I'm sure some recipes are, it wasn't easy. They took quite a bit of time and energy. The ingredients were easy, but the product not so much!

Yesterday I was feeling a little crafty and was on Pinterest and found this how-to for a homemade scarf. I went out to Target, bought a men's $5 shirt, and then cut it up. Then I tied knots all over and ended up with this:

Not bad for an easy, unique spring scarf! (not to mention perfect for St. Patrick's day).

Speaking of Target, I got a job there this morning! I had an interview for a Cashier position and was offered the position on the spot. I have to pass a drug and background test for it to be official, but neither of those are a problem for me! I'm excited to be able to work more and not feel so lazy!

It's hot here again today. Santa Ana winds were blowing all night, leaving it 80+ degrees today. Lots of sweet tea and now I'm planning on reading the afternoon away curled up with Luna (Doug's out golfing with my dad).

So happy it's the weekend!

She keeps us laughing

I know that I post about Luna a lot.
Just think about how much I'll post when I have actual kids.
Sorry if that doesn't help make up for all of the cat posts.

Last night she was playing with her giraffe that my parents got her. She loves playing with it whether we're toggling it or not. I was getting ready for bed and Doug called me into the room to laugh at the cat. And boy did I laugh.

She got herself tied up in it. Doug didn't tie her up, but with all of her rolling around and moving, she made knots around herself. She hates when we laugh at her and got kinda mad about it, but I got some pictures of it. She then was able to untie herself as she kept playing.

Luna loves her treats. Whenever she hears any kind of bag that sounds like them, she'll come running, hoping to get one. Coffee, cheese, chips. She thinks they're all her treats. She comes charging like a fat kid at a buffet who hasn't eaten since breakfast. I got a video of it tonight. It's even better in person though.

This weekend has been nice and relaxing. Yesterday Doug and I went for a walk on the beach, got In-n-Out, then ate it on our balcony. Then we both took naps.

Today I went to my parents and had dinner, did a load of laundry, and took a nap. Now I'm home before youth group. It's been really nice out the last two days. Today it was 80 degrees! Gotta love living in California. We think Luna was hot yesterday, cause we found her hanging out in here:

Crazy cat. Haha also, my plants are growing! These are the sweet peas:

Such a nice day!

There's lots of sail boats out enjoying the afternoon

She's content just watching from inside.

Last week when we were at Magic Mountain, when we were entering the park, the turnstile wasn't quite turned over all the way, so when I went to walk through, my leg jammed into one of the spokes. Ouch. I could feel that it was bruised pretty deep; it hurt to use the muscle the rest of the day, like for walking. It's been a week now and it still looks almost the same as that day. It would happe to me haha.

Just thought I would share...

This is what my list ended up looking like today:

Go running

Go to the bank for quarters
Do laundry (including towels and Luna's bedding) (minus two more loads of clothes)
Clean Luna's kennel
Dust the apartment
Sweep the apartment
Mop the apartment
Vacuum the couch
Vacuum our room
Do my Bible study
Make a good, healthy breakfast
Bake a treat for movie night
Give Luna a bath

Not bad, if I do say so myself. I give all the credit to Doug though, because he helped me out  A LOT. He got off early and texted me and asked me what he could do to help. He swept, mopped, and kept laundry going till I got home. I love my man :]

I actually baked two treats today. I made my chocolate chip banana bread just in case the other one wasn't as good as I hoped. The recipe that I was trying for the first time I found on the site Pinterest. It's called BTS cake. Depending on who you talk to BTS stands for different things, but the phrase most heard by our group is "better than sex." (I didn't make up the name of the cake!)

Pretty much it's devil's food cake with a can of condensed milk and caramel sauce on top, then a layer of cool whip, chopped up heath bars, and more caramel drizzled over the top. It was a success and everyone liked it. This is what it looked like:

While I was uploading that picture I saw a few others on my camera that I took last week that I haven't posted or updated about. So here's a week's worth of my life haha

This has been my favorite "healthy" breakfast to make (although today my healthy breakfast was oatmeal and raisins with peanut butter). I'm not one for omelettes and have never really liked them. I like my eggs plain, with ketchup. Although I guess this would technically still be a scramble. I like putting onions, green bell peppers, spinach, and mozzarella cheese in it. I still like my bacon and my buttered toast, but that's why I put healthy in quotes. This picture also shows the small side table that we got that's in between our rocking chairs. So now I have a place to put stuff when I'm enjoying breakfast on our balcony :)

I planted some seeds a couple of weeks ago. I'd love to have some plants to brighten up our balcony, and luckily a lot of plants need full sun, which we have plenty of. I planted Zinnias first, and then Sweet Peas. I watered them every day and have done my best to keep Luna out of the soil. I was watering them one day when I noticed some just starting to peak out from the soil. So of course I grabbed my camera. Only 2 of the 5 seeds I planted in the pot seem to have grown, but that's ok. Today I noticed the Sweet Peas starting to peak out too.

This is another recipe that I found on Pinterest that I made for movie night last week. They're pretty much just like S'mores. They're called Pampered Chef S'mores, and they were delicious.

I'm getting hungry blogging about all of these goodies! Time for bed though. Good night!

Happy March!

It's crazy how ambitious I get at night. At least for the next day. I have a to do list in my head of all the stuff that I want to get done, and I feel like I have the energy to do it now, but I have to wait till the next day. The problem is, when tomorrow comes, I won't have the energy or the time to complete everything that I wanted to. I'm in one of those moods now. This is what I want to complete tomorrow:

Go running
Go to the bank for quarters
Do laundry (including towels and Luna's bedding)
Clean Luna's kennel
Dust the apartment
Sweep the apartment
Mop the apartment
Vacuum the couch
Vacuum our room
Do my Bible study
Make a good, healthy breakfast
Bake a treat for movie night
Give Luna a bath

All of that would be doable if I had the entire day off. But I have work at 1 (possibly at noon). And I don't know what time I'll be off since it's shipment. I could be there for two hours or for five. And then I need to come home and get ready to host a movie night (not much to get ready if I get the cleaning and baking part of that list done in the morning), which honestly, is probably all that I'll get done).

Luna has won the war of the bed. Doug and I discussed it and decided that since we don't want her to have to spend every night of her life in a kennel (plus it'd be nice to have that room back again), and the impossibility of her understanding that she's not allowed on it, we decided that we're not going to fight her about it anymore. She's been loving waking us up at 6 in the morning by biting our knuckles and ponytails, crawling over my face to get to the flowers on my nightstand, purring loudly in our ears as she tries to suck on our earlobes, and sitting on our necks. I guess it's preparing us for having kids, whenever that may be.

Last weekend a group of us got together to go to Six Flags. Doug and I have season passes and so do our friends Mark and Elyse. We have coupons to bring friends for cheap or free, so we got in our other friends. It was rather busy so we didn't get to go on too many rides, but when you're there cheap/free, it doesn't matter quite as much. We ate a lot, screamed a lot, and talked a lot. It was awesome.

Walking up to food/rides

"Where do you want to go?"
"I don't know"

Any ideas yet?

We took most of our pictures in line for Batman. It was ridiculous how long that line was for such an old ride, but it's a classic. We couldn't not go on it.

Prom picture

We may have gotten a bit loopy.

Whenever Doug and I go anywhere, we seem to collect change. We collect it throughout the year when we use cash, and when we find it too. When we have enough we cash it in, usually around the holidays to help pay for presents. We usually make a contest of it. This time we joined forces and took on Allison and Brian mainly. Let's just say we kicked their butts. (We collected $1.36!) This picture is of Doug reaching under the fence to get one.

Andrew doesn't smile for photos. I've known him for 9 years and he does not smile for photos. This is the closest you'll get.

In every picture someone's blocking someone. Oh well.

One more time!

If I have any hope of getting my list done I should get to bed. I did clean the kitchen and the bathroom tonight, so that's a start. The bathroom's the most important part anyway. Nothing's more embarrassing than a dirty bathroom when you have company over.
