Doug here with a recap for those of you who haven't been able to be apart of this past year with us here is a quick recap on what events took place that lead us to our first year together, the first of many adventures.
It all started on a brisk fall afternoon, Ryan, my cousin, and I were up at the Joshua Wilderness building welcoming the new Joshua students, helping the staff, and getting to know the new kids on the street. Chelle and I first met while I showed her and her family around the halls. It wasn't for a couple weeks till Chelle and I got to really meet. She worked as a paintball referee as my second up on the paintball field, I didn't remember her name and so all I knew was this girl had pretty blue eyes, thus i referred to her as "the girl with pretty blue eyes" to my friends. We spent a few weekends throughout the year working together getting "Nelsoned", which pretty much meant, a lot of tough work right before getting let go for the weekend. Chelle stood out amongst her classmates as a strong, fun, and friendly person. When spring came around it was time for the full time staff to choose their summer workers. Chelle was picked for High adventure (H.A.), because she already had been trained in much of the areas required for H.A. After the Joshua graduation Chelle and I had a long talk on what we like to call "The Couch". The couch was located outside of what was known as "Contractors" where a bunch of H.A. staff used to relax. It was on this couch that Chelle and I talked about feeling we had, I expressed the feelings I had for her and she responded well (YAY!!!!!!!!). She left that day for a few days off between Joshua and Summer work. We talked every night for hours upon hours, we got to know each other more. A few days later we decided to make it "official" what ever that means. May 15th was the day.
That summer we spent working at H.A. I ran the Exodus program and she was up in H.A. and paintball. We spent many nights together in a hammock under the stars watching movies and the friends TV series. After Hume Chelle took me to South Carolina, My first time ever to the East Coast, she took me to the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. Later on we moved down to Oxnard, I worked that fall as Chelle started classes, we both attended classes in the spring at SBCC, we were able to have a schedule that allowed us to carpool up and even take a class together, Music Appreciation.
A few days before Valentines day we decided not to do the cliche thing of "dinner and roses and stuff" on valentines day. So instead we celebrated our first "Un-valentines day" date the day before Valentines day. We went to dinner all dressed up, it was an excellent meal. She was drop dead gorgeous! You should have seen how amazing she looked. This summer we're taking classes online and have made a "Summer List" of things we want to do this summer, on it are things we have already done like, go to 6 Flags, sleep on the beach, a picnic, go to the zoo, and a campfire on the beach, to things we have yet to do such as: trip to SD, Disneyland, and bowling. So far we are doing pretty good on finishing the list, but time is short. Chelle is planning on going on a cruise in a week to the Caribbean with her mom. I'll be here making money to save up for our bank account.
So that is where we stand today. There are a bunch of things I've left out but I'm sure we'll mention most of those things later. Till then I hope you enjoy the Blog. Take care
Doug
