Disneyland

So last Monday we got to go to Disneyland! Our schedules matched up and we figured it be the perfect day where we were able to get a good amount of sleep the night before and before summer really hit and the crowds roll in. Disneyland is open a lot later than California Adventure, and earlier too. We got there around 9:30 and it was awesome. It was the perfect weather. It wasn't too cold at all but still cloudy, so we weren't baking in the sun. The first thing that we did when we got in the park was go to the Blue Bayou to make a reservation for that night. It had always been the policy that reservations could only be same day. Well, they changed that rule. Now you can make reservations 2 months in advance! Luckily we were able to still get a reservation for 9:20. It was a late dinner but we figured we'd be done with most of the rides and ready to just sit for a while.
After that we went on Pirate's of the Caribbean. I still miss the old one and don't like that they re-did the ride to fit the movies, but oh well. It was still fun. We also got Fast-passes (best invention ever!) for Indiana Jones and came back and rode that later. We pretty much got to go on everything that we wanted, and some rides we went on twice. Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Matterhorn, Finding Nemo, Star Tours, Buzz Light Year Star Command, Indiana Jones, Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Thunder Mountain, and probably more. It was an awesome day.

We asked a woman to take our picture in front of the castle. She seemed rather annoyed, which surprised us. And she didn't even get the castle in the background...

So we did it ourselves...kinda

Here are some of our ride shots. We took a picture of the screen that portrays the picture...so some of the shots aren't that great
Splash Mountain. We're in the very back. We were in a group of other people and they all put their hands up, so we joined them. But Doug's face got blocked by one of the other guy's hand.

Space Mountain. Such an amazing ride. But you gotta be in the front for it.

Buzz Lightyear. We were shooting all the targets. We both look like we're stoned
Space Mountain again. Our second time, and this time in the front.

Right before we took off on the Matterhorn. The best thing about just us going is that on a lot of the rides the attendants were calling for groups of two to fill up other cars. We'd immediately shoot our hands up and volunteer to go in front of everyone.

So they re-did and re-named Tom Sawyer's Island. It's kinda sad how they keep changing things, like the Swiss Family Robinson Tree house to Tarzan's tree house. It makes sense because they're keeping up with the times and what kids will know, but both attractions were tribute to classic novels. With saying that, I must also say that Pirate's Lair (the new name of the island) is really cool and was a lot of fun to explore.
Us in front of one of the buildings there. The people that are sitting in the back have a checkerboard between them

Doug in a tree house that's built there

Me on one of the swing brides there.

They have one of bone cages from Pirate's of the Caribbean that you can go in. It's anchored to the ground completely, but was still fun to see and pose in.

In a lagoon there is a boat that has this whole filled with water...

But if you pump this pump for a few minutes...(I know, you can't really see the pump...the guy taking the picture missed the point)

you pump the water out and treasure and a skeleton appears!!

Doug on a bridge made out of wooden barrels. It moved a lot.

Just us again. I think this is on jungle cruise...

This is one of the scenes in the line for Who Framed Roger Rabbit ride. Doug saw the calendar for August and was excited, so he took the picture of it.

Us at the Blue Bayou. We had the photo shop the picture a little because we were so washed out since it's so dark in the restaurant. When we first went in we originally were seated at the very back of the restaurant. But as we were walking to the table I saw that they were clearing a table right on the water edge. I asked Doug to ask the staff if we could move to that table, and they said yes. So we got to be right on the water. It was so romantic. Except for the people on the ride who would yell, "Is the food good?!" haha. But it didn't happen all the time, so it was still a lot of fun. And the food was absolutely delicious.

Now it's time to really start wedding planning
