Following the storms...

We took a train this morning to Vienna. A group of people reserved almost the entire first class cabin, so we had to sit in the restaurant car. Which really wasn't that bad. We had a table and the seats were more comfortable. And I got a cappuccino that was really good, and Doug got some chocolate crepes. It was just frustrating because we had been one of the first on the first class car, and the group didn't inform us that they had reserved the seats until 10 minutes after we left the station. Reservations weren't compulsory like they are on some trains. It was only the seat that Doug was sitting in that they needed, and the guy informed me that I could stay. I told him no thanks, that's ok." Haha why would I want to sit with your group and send my husband somewhere else?

It started raining about an hour into our train ride. It seems as though we are following the storm that just passed through Prague. Or we found a new one. Luckily it let up once we got into the city. We went to information like we usually do to find directions to our hotel. Usually they look up the address and tell us which subway to take, which transfers, etc. This guy printed out a paper (which was in German), shoved it to our side of the window, and started helping the people behind us...thanks man... Luckily between both Doug and I we were able to figure it out. We arrived at our hotel around 2. We really like it. It reminds us of the hotel that we stayed at in Berlin. I like having my own blanket, since I'm the blanket hog between us two. The only English station is BBC so we're keeping up on world news. So glad that we saw London before the riots and don't have to worry about our safety by being there now.

Doug and I both napped for a couple of hours. We slept terribly last night. The bed that at first seemed comfy turned out to be squeaky and tilted. We both kept waking up every hour, if not more. So we were really tired and needed the rest.

Then we packed up our dirty clothes and inquired at the front desk where the closest one was. She printed out directions and also gave them verbally. We found it without any issue and got our clothes clean. Hurray for clean clothes! We came back to our hotel, dropped off the clothes, and then went back out in search for food. Originally we wanted pizza, and started off down the road to get some, but ran into a doner kebap (they used a p instead of a b at the end) stand and got that instead. We laughed cause we could see the restaurant that we were originally going to go to before getting distracted by the doners.

We walked back and it started to rain hard right before we got back to our hotel. We made it back just in time! We ate, cleaned up, and now are getting ready for bed. So we didn't get to see any of Vienna besides the laundromat, but we still have tomorrow. I keep picturing more of a country-side Austria, and have to keep reminding myself that we're in the city, so it's going to look like a city.

In sad news, some how our camera broke. I have no clue how. I went to take a picture of our room and it wouldn't focus at all, so I turned it off, and when I turned it back on, it made a weird noise as the lens goes out and then retracts immediately. Then a "lens error" pops up on the screen. We've been trying to fix it all afternoon but nothing's worked. I have the worst luck with cameras. But I just got this one in December. I've only dropped it once and that was in December (about a week after I got it). I've kept it in its case whenever I carry it, and it was in the outside pocket of my backpack all day today, so not being crushed by anything. And I wear that backpack on my stomach and my big pack on my back, so I know it didn't get hit against anything today. I have no clue why it's not working. So first stop tomorrow will be to find a camera so we can document the rest of our trip! Maybe tomorrow our camera will magically be better and it just has a cold right now...

We're both exhausted so we're going to turn in "early." Sorry for the lack of pictures and lack of exploration stories. But everyone needs to rest now and then :)

That happened with my camera and it just needed new batteries. Perhaps you can check that out first. So sorry though, cause you don't want to spend your precious time on that.
Your schedule sounds exhausting. Hope you have a good rest tonight and some sunshine tomorrow! Hugs, Nana
